General Crowell is an experienced manager, in both civilian and military organizations. His extensive background in large and small enterprises has been instrumental in the many successes he has enjoyed over the years.
Born, raised and educated in New England and New York state, he graduated from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Economics and went on to gain a masters degree in Personal Administration from George Washington University. Commissioned an Army Second Lieutenant upon graduation from college he went on to enjoy a successful 34 year career retiring as a Lieutenant General.
He served as a Vice President at Coast Bank in Sarasota Florida followed by a seven year stint as Senior Vice President, Development, Mote Marine Laboratory. Appointed a member and then chairman of the board of a start-up continuing care retirement community he later became CEO and managed the enterprise bringing it to full capacity and financial stability.
General Crowell has served as president of his Rotary Club and Rotary District Governor of Southwest Florida. He has been president of the Sarasota Military Officer’s Association, a director of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, chairman of Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence, a trustee and treasurer of Mote Marine Laboratory, founding member and chairman of the Sarasota Military Academy, commodore of the Field Club and a member of the board of the Pines of Sarasota.
Among his many awards and decorations are the Defense and Army Distinguished Service Medals, the Silver Star, Bronze Star, eighteen Air Medals (one with V device) Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Senior Parachutist Wings and Ranger Tab. He holds the Sol Finestone Alumni Award from St. Lawrence University recognizing his demonstrated “deep commitment to the advancement of the freedom of man.”
General Crowell’s long and successful military and civilian careers have given him a wealth of experience in financial and personal management.
